Community Raises $11k for Air Ambulance Service in Southeast Alberta

The community in Southeast Alberta recently observed HALO Day for HALO Air Ambulance and helped raise $11,000 for the life-saving air ambulance service in the region.

HALO Air Ambulance is Southern Alberta’s only dedicated Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) and Public Safety Program. Since its inception in 2007, HALO Air Ambulance has worked with local partners to respond to emergencies in Southern Alberta and has flown thousands of missions, impacting countless lives.

Based in Medicine Hat, the helicopter helps reach sick or injured people quickly, especially in remote or hard-to-reach places. The service handles multiple types of calls, including emergency medical scenes, flying critical patients between hospitals, supporting search and rescue missions, fire support, and law enforcement assistance, alongside disaster response for events like floods, wildfires, or tornadoes. HALO also helps transport people, equipment, and rescue teams and provides aerial views to guide emergency operations.

The annual call for financial support helps provide partial funding for HALO, as it is supported by the kindness and generosity of community-minded individuals, responsible small businesses, corporate partners, and leading regional municipalities. HALO CEO Paul Carolan thanked the community for their support and said they have more events planned for the rest of the year.

Operating since 2007, HALO receives less than half of its operating budget from the provincial government. The organization helps fill the funding gap through donations from individuals, businesses, and municipalities. You can reach out and help at donate@haloairambulance.com.
