Over 700 dancers across Saskatchewan participated in the Prince Albert Festival of Dance from April 2 to April 6, 2025. This is an annual weekend competition that showcases multiple dance styles, including hip hop, ballet, and jazz, has completed 20 years.
The Prince Albert Festival of Dance is a nonprofit competition for dancers aged 6 to 19 and older. A group of volunteers organizes the event where dancers perform in styles like ballet, jazz, acro, tap, hip-hop, lyrical, contemporary dance, and musical theater.
Hundreds of dancers from across Saskatchewan participate to receive feedback from experts and win awards sponsored by local businesses in Prince Albert. The event is a proud tradition of the city that has built a strong connection among dancers across the city and province. The participants work hard and prepare for months to participate in the annual festival.
Prince Albert Festival of Dance is among the very few dance festivals that have survived the test of time. According to the participants, the festival feels very community-based, with support from multiple other studios, which has filtered down to the dancers.
Local studios Ballet ‘n All That Jazz, Bold Dance, Prince Albert Dance Company, Xcelerate, Waldheim School of Dance, En Pointe studio from Montmartre, Shellbrook’s Studio 747, A-List Dance out of Humboldt, Step-It-Up from Clavet, and Studio 12 from Saskatoon were among the participants.
