“Resources Around Me” connects youth with Trusted Mental Health and Wellbeing Services

Canada’s only 24/7 national e-mental health service offering free, confidential, multi-lingual support to young people, Kids Help Phone (KHP), has announced the launch of Resources Around Me – Canada’s largest system navigation tool designed to support young people. Deploying technology at its best, Resources Around Me is a free, innovative, tool designed to connect young people, their families, communities, adults and service providers to over 40,000 trusted and validated programs and services across Canada. The verified database features clinically vetted apps to support the mental health and well-being of youth across Canada.

The platform offers assistance to individuals dealing with mild to moderate mental health issues, those experiencing suicidal thoughts or emotional distress, people worried about someone they know, and general counselling for youth, all in more than 150 languages.

Resources Around Me is now the third most visited page on Kids Help Phone’s website, following the “Urgent Help” and “Text About It” pages. The page provides access to over 40,000 listings of both virtual and in-person support options across the country. Over the last five years, nearly 700,000 users have accessed its resources. Each service listed has been carefully reviewed by KHP staff to ensure it is accurate and reliable.

The tool makes it easier for young people to find trusted programs and services that fit their needs. It was developed with input from youth and mental health advocates to ensure it is easy to use and respectful of privacy. Along with the reviewed apps, it helps youth quickly access the most suitable resources.

Kids Help Phone is a Canadian charity that has been supporting young people since 1989, starting as a free telephone counselling service for abuse victims. As more young people reached out, it became clear they needed more support options. For over 35 years, KHP’s professional counsellors and volunteer crisis responders have provided help with everything from major crises to everyday challenges, ensuring every concern is taken seriously.
