Katrina Young, who was recently crowned Miss Foothills, is currently on a mission to help and support her community as she pursues the title of Miss Canada. The journey for her has been about spreading positivity and love while making a difference in the lives of those around her. Her title as Miss Foothills earned her a spot in the Miss Canada competition, where she will compete as one of ten finalists from November 17 to 21 in Edmonton.

Hailing from Millarville, Alberta, Katrina stands for self-love and believes in speaking up against injustices. She aims to inspire others to embrace their true selves and find their voices. Katrina views pageantry as a platform not only to represent strong and confident women, but also to foster a supportive community within. She aspires to create a world where respect, equality, and happiness prevail.

A major aspect of her use of the platform is to shed light on domestic violence and sexual assault issues. Addressing these topics is very challenging, but she recognizes that doing so is the only way to bring light to them and help people who are victims because of them. Katrina is determined to represent those who have experienced sexual assault, ensuring their voices are heard.

In her efforts to support others, Katrina has collaborated with her mother to establish a network for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. They aim to create a haven where individuals can come together and feel safe. She has learned to understand that these issues are common, yet sadly rarely discussed and addressed.

Catherine Young, Katrina’s mother, feels a sense of pride in joining her daughter in the healing circle project while supporting her on the path to becoming Miss Canada. Catherine is a proud mother, as she remarked, admiring Katrina’s commitment to standing up for her beliefs, pursuing her dreams, and helping others in the process.
