The Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta recently announced the launch of this year’s Fall grants program and is now accepting applications. Since 1966, the foundation has been connecting donors with meaningful causes. Applications for the Community Priorities Fund and the Henry S. Varley Fund for Rural Life are open until October 15, 2024.
The foundation’s largest grant initiative, the Community Priorities Fund, will award $550,000 to support local charitable work through two separate funding rounds.
The Henry S. Varley Fund for Rural Life will provide $282,000 in grants to help community organizations that work to maintain a high quality of life in the rural communities of Southwestern Alberta.
Other categories for grants include the Youth In Action Grant Program, Community Services Recovery Fund, and Emerald Anniversary Grants Program. You can find all the information on the Community Foundation website.

Established in 1966, the Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta is the ninth-oldest community foundation in Canada. It manages donations from generous donors to create permanent, income-earning funds. The income generated from these funds is distributed to charities chosen by the donors. Over the years, the Community Foundation has grown its endowment to over $41 million and has awarded more than $18 million in grants to charities working to improve the communities of Southwestern Alberta.
