A family from Red Deer has donated $2.27 million to four local organizations in honour of their late loved ones. The family of Donald and Alice Beamish commemorated their memory with a presentation at Red Deer Regional Hospital last month, choosing causes that were meaningful to them and supporting the community they loved.
At the event, it was shared that the Red Deer Regional Health Foundation will receive $860,139 from the Beamish estate, with Gaetz Memorial United Church also set to receive $860,139. Additionally, $369,953 will be directed to the Red Deer Hospice Society, and $182,976 will support the Golden Circle Senior Resource Centre, showing the family’s dedication to these valued community services.
Donald Beamish passed away in 2007. He had a successful career in vehicle sales and served as the Western Regional Manager for Chrysler Canada. Beyond work, Donald was a dedicated volunteer in Red Deer, contributing his time to Victims Services, the Shriners, and several other organizations.
Alice Beamish passed away in June at the age of 88. She worked for 33 years with Alberta Government Telephones and was also a committed volunteer, giving her time to UNICEF and the Girl Guides.
