The Halifax Regional Municipality recently hosted Bedford Days 2024 from June 22 to July 1, offering a wide range of cultural, musical, and family-friendly activities. The highlights included events such as the Coastal Makers Market, Rouge & Blanc wine tasting, an ice cream party, a kids extravaganza, a seniors dinner, yoga sessions, and live music performances, bringing residents together to celebrate their community. Bedford Days, in its 42nd year, draws over 20,000 people annually to various events in DeWolf Park and across Bedford.
For ten days, Halifax residents had the opportunity to bond over and enjoy several activities. The Coastal Makers Market featured over 30 vendors, fresh flowers, coffee, and live music performances. Restaurants like Atithi Indian Restaurant, Il Mercato Trattoria, and Sushi Moto participated in Rouge & Blanc food and wine tasting sessions, offering special menus at local establishments.
Many activities were planned to bring people together, such as yoga and Pilates sessions for adults, a kids extravaganza featuring mermaids, a beer fest, a dance party, a magic show, and a seniors dinner at Bedford Lions Club. Special activities also welcomed dogs at certain venues. The finale on Canada Day included bouncy castles, kids’ parties, and live music.
Over 60 community members participated in the hour-long Latin-inspired dance fitness class during Bedford Days, offered by instructors Wanda Martin and local Zumba over the weekend for free.
