150 Winnipeg residents recognized for their contributions

In celebration of Winnipeg’s 150th anniversary, 150 residents are being awarded honorary medals for their significant contributions to their neighbourhood or the city. Each recipient will receive a specially designed Winnipeg 150 Medal in a box, a certificate signed by the Mayor, and a tree planted in their name in a Winnipeg park.

The Winnipeg 150 medals were created for the City Council to honour residents who have made significant contributions to their neighbourhood or the city. Recipients must not be current employees of the City of Winnipeg or have previously received awards from the city for community service or volunteerism.

The full list of winners can be seen here. The list was announced by the City of Winnipeg, Earlier this month. “As we celebrate Winnipeg’s 150th anniversary, it’s important to honour those who have made exceptional contributions,” said Mayor Scott Gillingham. “These recipients embody what makes Winnipeg special—people who give their time and energy to build a better future for all. I am proud to recognize their efforts and look forward to personally presenting some of these medals during this milestone year.”

The 150 Winnipeg 150 Medals will be awarded at ceremonies across the city in the coming weeks. Eight medals will be distributed in each of the city’s 15 wards, with an additional 30 given out by Mayor Scott Gillingham.
