When downtown Winnipeg hosted its annual spring cleanup, over a thousand people showed up and took charge of making downtown Winnipeg a more beautiful place.
Over 1,200 volunteers from more than 100 businesses, non-profits, and community groups registered to take part in the annual cleanup event hosted by Downtown Winnipeg BIZ. The strong participation reflected the pride and willingness of the community to help make downtown Winnipeg a cleaner, more beautiful place.
The annual cleanup initiative allows businesses and individuals to give back to the community and keep downtown clean, welcoming, and vibrant. This was the highest-ever turnout for any of the annual cleanup events. In fact, organizers had to close registration early to control the number of participants.
Volunteers spent the morning picking up litter, cleaning public spaces, and helping improve the neighbourhood, showing how much people care about their community and want to make a positive difference. Organizers shared that a clean and well-maintained neighbourhood helps build community pride and encourages more people to enjoy downtown Winnipeg.
For the future, Downtown Winnipeg BIZ has created a new program allowing smaller community cleanups. The new program allows smaller groups to select their preferred time and date for the cleanup, and Downtown Winnipeg BIZ will provide supplies and guidance. More information is available on their website.
