Preschoolers Join First Responders in Kitchener to Raise Funds

The Family and Children’s Services Foundation joined forces with RisingOaks Early Learning Schools as preschoolers teamed up with first responders to raise funds for the third annual LemonAID campaign.

The preschoolers at Rising Oaks Early Learning in Kitchener took part in a lemon juicing competition earlier this month, with a little help from Waterloo Regional Police Service first responders. The participants were given all the essentials needed to run a lemonade stand.

The event was a kickoff to the third annual LemonAID campaign, organized by the Family and Children’s Services (FACS) Foundation. The funds raised through the campaign will help local kids access summer camps, sports, arts programs, cultural activities, and job skills training for young people connected to child welfare services.

LemonAID for Children’s Aid is a community fundraiser that helps children and youth access programs and experiences they might otherwise miss because of financial hardship. The campaign also supports programs that build confidence, inclusion, belonging, and independence.

Organizers say every donation helps remove barriers for children and youth while also supporting local nonprofit groups that deliver these important community programs. The main LemonAID event will be held on June 6, while lemonade stands will be set up throughout the Waterloo Region this summer.
