Community Rallies to Help Southman Gleaners Expand

Phenomenal support from the community has helped Southman Gleaners surpass its matching donation fundraising goal in February.

The Southman Gleaners’ fundraising campaign was boosted by an anonymous donor committing to match the first $100,000 raised last month. The campaign is receiving support and donations from Winnipeg, Brandon, and even Dauphin. So far, the campaign has raised over $250,000 of the $500,000 required to expand the facility. The money will help expand the group’s food-processing facility in Reinfeld, where volunteers turn donated vegetables into dried soup mixes for people in need in Canada and around the world.

The mixes are sent out to those in need through several Christian mission organizations. The expanded facility will include a cooler, a lunchroom separate from the working area, and an additional production area to increase efficiency and flow.

After the expansion, the Southman Gleaners facility in Reinfeld will allow volunteers to complete all work in one building with a proper assembly line, making the process faster, safer, and more efficient. Organizers thanked the community for its generous donations, kind messages, and strong support, and invited people to visit Reinfeld to see the construction and learn more about the project.
