Community Builds Lego and Raises $76,690 for the School Meal Program

Victoria residents recently came together for a good cause as they built Lego creations and helped raise funds for the school meal program run by Rainbow Kitchen Society.

The month-long fundraiser, called Festive Bricks of Giving, was held at Parkside Hotel from Nov. 15 to Dec. 28, 2025, and brought together community, creativity, and kindness. The event raised $76,690 to help students across the Capital Regional District access healthy food at school. Rainbow Kitchen Society currently provides about 6,000 nutritious meals each month to six local schools. The event capitalized on everyone’s love for Lego, as it helped surpass the event’s original goal of $50,000.

During the event, the Parkside Hotel was turned into a festive Lego wonderland, with detailed city scenes built by the Victoria Lego Users Group. People of all ages were invited to explore the displays, build their own Lego creations, and join fun scavenger hunts. The Rainbow Kitchen Society’s school meal program serves six schools across the Capital Regional District and helps prepare over 250,000 meals each year.

Executive director Patrick Jawes said he was thrilled with the event’s success and noted that it displayed what can happen when a community comes together. You can learn more and support Rainbow Kitchen Society’s endeavours by visiting rainbowkitchen.ca.
