The Tim Hortons Smile Cookie drive has helped raise $15,438 for Special Olympics Yukon. The money will fund programming and help send Team Yukon to the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games in Medicine Hat, Alberta, in August this year.

The campaign reached its target of raising $15,000 in a week as Tim Hortons customers in Whitehorse bought more than 7,700 Smile Cookies during the one-week campaign.

Two Tim Hortons franchises in Whitehorse were able to sell more than 7,700 Smile Cookies in support of Special Olympics Yukon, raising $15,438 for Special Olympics Yukon. Special Olympics Yukon CEO Serge Michaud thanked franchise owner Doug Terry for supporting the campaign for more than a decade.

Local athletes Anna Thompson, a soccer player, and Albert Bill, who competes in bocce, joined the staff as they celebrated the achievement, holding thank-you signs and the fundraising cheque last month.
