The community in Saskatchewan is rallying around a 17-year-old recovering from a life-changing farming accident.
The town of Strasbourg, Saskatchewan, has come together in support of 17-year-old Lyle Mohr after he was seriously injured in a farming accident in July. Lyle was working in a field when a piece of farm equipment struck his head, leading to a brain injury and a broken neck.
Since the accident, people in Strasbourg and across Saskatchewan have been showing their support by putting up flags and signs, wearing hats, and using coffee mugs with the message “Lyle Mohr Strength.” The message is a symbol of the community’s love, support, and hope for Lyle’s recovery.
People from far beyond his hometown of Strasbourg, Saskatchewan, including those in Wyoming, are supporting his recovery. With support from Lyle’s friends, even people in Africa have received coffee mugs and other items carrying the message “Lyle Mohr Strength.” Carol Schultz, a longtime community resident, said Lyle’s accident deeply affected everyone, and people eagerly read every update and look at every photo shared about his recovery. These updates give the community hope and help everyone stay connected.
Since the accident, Lyle has undergone four surgeries, including two on his neck, and is now at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, where he is learning to walk and speak again. Lyle will need some time to recover from the serious brain injury, but prayers and community support have helped him make progress, with some describing his recovery as a miracle. A trust account has also been set up in his name, and a larger fundraiser is being planned to support him.
