Nova Scotia Group Helps the Blind Experience Cycling

For over a decade, Blind Sports Nova Scotia’s free tandem bike program has been helping Nova Scotians with vision loss experience the joy of cycling.

The Blind Sports NS Tandem Bike Club helps people who are blind or have low vision enjoy the fun and freedom of cycling. The club provides tandem bikes made for two people, safety training, and experienced volunteer pilots to help participants ride with confidence. Members can borrow bikes for short- or long-term use, participate in orientation sessions, and join group rides on scenic trails.

The program makes cycling more accessible and offers participants a chance to enjoy cycling with family, friends, and trained volunteers. The club prioritizes safety, ensuring everyone receives training before riding, and that helmets are always required.

The program has been receiving a lot of interest, and the group is looking for more experienced cyclists to volunteer so that more people can experience the freedom, fun, and independence of riding a bike. You can learn more about the program by visiting its Facebook page.
