For the past 20 years, the Windsor Sports and Culture Centre and the Windsor Sikh Community have been collecting and delivering items needed to Street Help to support those in need several times a year.

Members of the two organizations recently delivered food and essential items during the holiday season, with deliveries pouring in on Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day. Last week, the two organizations delivered over $4,000 worth of food, clothing, sleeping bags, blankets, and toiletries to the Street Help Homeless Centre at 964 Wyandotte Street East.

Jatinder Rai, president of the Windsor Sports and Culture Centre, helped unload donations for Street Help outside the homeless shelter on Wyandotte Street in Windsor. The donations came from the Windsor Sports and Culture Centre and the Windsor Sikh community to support people experiencing homelessness. Rai said the goal is to make sure no one goes hungry, adding that the community has given them so much since arriving in Canada, and this is their way of giving back. Street Help administrator Christine Wilson-Furlonger said the donation means a lot, as it saves them from having to buy supplies for some time. She also shared that Street Help helps feed and support about 500 people every day.
