Hockey Helps the Homeless in Montreal

Hockey Helps the Homeless is a nationwide pro-am hockey tournament that brings together amateur and professional players to raise money for local homelessness initiatives.

Last weekend, the Montreal hockey community got together as hundreds of players hit the ice to raise funds for those in need. According to the organizers, 100 percent of funds raised will remain in the community and will support programs that provide shelter, food, and other essential services.

In Montreal, about 300 players take part in 20 teams, each joined by a former NHL player. Every participant raises at least $1,000, helping the event collect millions of dollars each year to support local homeless shelters. The Montreal tournament partners with about 15 local organizations, distributing significant funding each year. Last year, the event donated over $900,000 to support youth and young adults and keep them off the street.

Hockey Helps the Homeless is a meaningful community effort that brings families and youth together to help those in need. The event also brings in former NHL players like P.J. Stock and Patrice Brisebois, who join in to give back to their city. Funds raised through local tournaments organized by HHTH help address a growing crisis across Canada. Since 1996, HHTH has raised over $33 million across Canada to help people find safe housing.
