Fort Erie Non-Profit to Raise $55K for Accessibility

A Fort Erie nonprofit, Community Living Fort Erie (CLFE), that supports people with disabilities, is looking to raise $55,000 to buy an accessible van for those in need.

CLFE has operated for more than 60 years and is bringing back its signature fundraiser after a one-year break. The organization is working to rebuild donor relationships and bridge the gap in its transportation capacity that has limited programming for the people it serves.

The organization helps people with disabilities participate in community activities, ranging from swimming lessons to day trips. Currently, accessibility is an issue due to reliance on outside transportation, but with its own van, the organization will be able to support people with mobility challenges without depending on a third party while maintaining the dignity of those it serves.

The fundraiser, titled ‘The Frosted Fort Gala: A Night at the Speakeasy,’ is scheduled for November 14 at the Fort Erie Leisureplex. The event is expected to be a fun 1920s-themed evening with dinner, live music, a speakeasy-style photo booth, a raffle, and a 50/50 draw.

Businesses can support the event through sponsorships ranging from $500 for photo booth branding to $5,000 for title sponsorship. Individual tickets cost $60, and donations have been opened early to build interest. You can learn more about the fundraiser by contacting Samlall at ssamlall@clfe.ca or (905) 871-6770, extension 239.
