The community in Cape Breton helped raise a record-breaking $4.81 million for the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation in 2025 to help support patients and improve health-care services.
The impressive $4.81 million was raised in 2025 through 5,386 donors and more than 16,000 donations across 64 local fundraising events in the region. The funds were used to provide direct financial support to 5,227 patients. About $1.27 million went toward important needs such as travel costs, medications, accessibility equipment, and other medical expenses.
The foundation’s signature event, Radio Day 2025, raised a record-breaking $1.42 million for health care in Cape Breton. 2025 marked the fourth consecutive year that the foundation reported record-breaking fundraising results to support priority health-care needs across Cape Breton. In 2024, the foundation raised $4.49 million; in 2023, it was $4.25 million; and in 2022, the community donated $4.21 million.
The foundation also disbursed a historic $2.3 million in local health-care investments, which was $300,000 more than last year. The funds helped the foundation purchase 22 pieces of critical medical equipment, including two Prismax machines for the intensive-care unit, which will “make the difference between life and death” for vulnerable patients who are often too sick to be transferred to Halifax. It also paid for professional development and research grants for 37 health-care experts.
The foundation’s 2026 campaign is well underway and aims to raise $4.7 million to improve resources and help more people than ever.
