Seven-year-old Logan Pandolfi in Brandon is making a difference by donating a portion of his backyard garden produce back to his community.

Logan joined his father in growing a small backyard potato garden. After growing potatoes for their own family for several years, Logan decided to sell his harvest to the community. His efforts to give back to the community have blossomed into a thriving community business called “Welcome to Logan’s Potatoes,” after the community saw what Logan was doing and his willingness to give back.

Logan’s potato business has become well known across Brandon, with his fun logo appearing on a digital billboard and even attracting visits from local police officers and community supporters. The support from the community, including donated garden beds, allowed Logan to significantly scale up the operation, more than doubling his growing capacity to 34 potato beds.

In its first year, Logan harvested 80 pounds of potatoes, helping him raise about $700. About $200 was donated back to the community for supplies for two local animal shelters. This year, Logan is aiming for 120 pounds of potatoes, which is 40 pounds above last year’s total. The young entrepreneur has also set a new goal to use a portion of this year’s sales proceeds to buy toys for kids at Brandon General Hospital. Logan’s story is an inspiring example of how a simple idea can grow into something that helps others.
