Western Canada Co-ops Funding Community Spaces

Co-ops across Western Canada have committed $1 million in funding for their Community Spaces program. Between February 1 and March 3, up to $150k is available for each project related to recreation, environmental conservation, and urban agriculture.

Co-op believes in the importance of community and the spaces that can bring people together. Since 2015, the Co-op Community Spaces program has provided $13.5 million in capital funding for 189 local projects across Western Canada. The community places program plays an important role in strengthening community ties while offering everyone a chance to grow.

Projects can apply for funding between $25,000 and $150,000 in three areas: recreation, environmental conservation, and urban agriculture. Eligible applicants, including registered non-profits, charities, and community service cooperatives, can apply online from February 1 to March 3. For more details on eligibility and application timelines, visit the funding page.

Projects such as Julia’s Junction, Come Grow With Us Passive Solar Greenhouse, and Day Lodge at Whiskey Jack Nordic Ski Club have received a Community Spaces grant from regional cooperatives in Western Canada.
