United Way of Sarnia-Lambton’s Annual Day of Caring

120 volunteers from 15 companies recently spread out across Lambton to support local homes and community groups during the annual Day of Caring. They helped with tasks such as gardening, painting, building storage, and repairing patios.

The annual event not only provides hands-on help but also supports the United Way of Sarnia-Lambton, which aims to raise $1.5 million this year for community organizations.

The Day of Caring is a special event where volunteers come together to help local residents and organizations with jobs they might not be able to complete on their own because of health or financial challenges. The event gives employees the chance to work as a team in new ways, meet volunteers from other companies, and feel more connected to the community. Volunteers can use their skills to make a real difference while building stronger teamwork and community spirit.

Since 1993, the United Way of Sarnia-Lambton’s Day of Caring has supported the community with a wide range of projects, from painting, cleaning, and gardening to building ramps, decks, and sheds. Each year, requests are carefully reviewed to ensure help goes to those who need it most. The event brings together volunteers, businesses, employees, and retirees for a day of giving back. Volunteers not only gain the satisfaction of helping others but also see how donations directly support local services. Many seniors and people with disabilities also value the social connection, particularly those who live alone without nearby family.
