Trellis Society is a non-profit organization that started in 2020 to help Calgarians dealing with homelessness, poverty, addiction, and mental health problems. For the past five years, Trellis Society has offered support to thousands of people, taking care of their immediate needs and helping them build a better life.
Since it started in 2020, this organization has grown to be one of the biggest non-profits for human services in the city. It provides many services, including emergency shelter, affordable housing, youth programs, therapy, and cultural support. During 2022-23, Trellis Society helped 7,020 Calgarians, including 437 people who were brought out of homelessness. The nonprofit saved 2,058 people from experiencing homelessness, served 1,000+ people at South Calgary and Strathmore Community Hubs, and helped 142 families access free tax clinics and receive $80,000 in refunds, among multiple other community support initiatives.
With a focus on community care, the team at Trellis works closely with people, meeting them where they are and offering help as required. In the future, success for Trellis will mean helping people turn their lives around, like a child being ready for school or a homeless person finding a home quickly.
The nonprofit’s relationship with donors has also grown stronger as people have witnessed real, positive change. Trellis invites the community to help by volunteering, donating, fostering, or simply showing kindness and understanding to people in tough situations.
