Three Mining Firms Donate $1.25M Towards Manitoba Wildfire Relief

Vale Base Metals, Alamos Gold, and Hudbay Minerals have donated $1.25 million to support the families and communities impacted by the devastating forest fires.

The collective donation of $1.25 million from the three Canadian mining companies was made to the Canadian Red Cross to support critical services and recovery relief efforts for communities impacted by wildfires across northern Manitoba.

All three companies, Vale, Hudbay Minerals Inc., and Alamos Gold Inc., have operations in Manitoba. Hudbay has mines in Flin Flon and Snow Lake, Alamos Gold operates in Lynn Lake, and Vale Base Metals runs a mine in Thompson.

The donation will help the Canadian Red Cross provide shelter, food, and transportation to people who have had to vacate their homes due to fires. It will also support families as they return and start rebuilding their lives. The money will help people replace personal and household items, provide mental health support, connect them to local services, and assist local businesses, as well as fund projects that will help communities recover, prepare for future emergencies, and reduce disaster risks.

Conrad Sauvé, president and CEO of the Canadian Red Cross, said he was grateful to Vale Base Metals, Hudbay, and Alamos for their generous donation.
