Taber Cornfest Celebrates 40 Years of Bringing Community Together

The residents of Taber in southern Alberta celebrated a major milestone at this year’s annual Cornfest, as the event turned 40.

Cornfest is known as Taber’s biggest festival and the largest free family fair in Western Canada. The southern Alberta tradition kicked off with a parade on Thursday night, followed by the opening of the Wildrose Midway. The festival also featured events such as Bull-a-rama, a BMX show, a corn-eating contest, and more.

According to Visit Taber, Cornfest celebrates community, farming, and summer fun, hosting thousands of visitors each year to enjoy what makes Taber special. Organizers say Taber Cornfest is truly a community event. Co-chair Matthew Peleskey, who grew up attending Cornfest, said it has always been an important tradition in the area. He’s proud to give back, especially for the festival’s 40th anniversary. Cornfest ran until Saturday at Confederation Park in Taber.
