Queen’s Students Raise $225,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society

The 2025 Queen’s Relay For Life raised a record $225,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society, the highest amount ever raised by a relay held at a post-secondary institution in the country.

Queen’s students were able to break both campus and national records at the university’s 19th annual Relay For Life. Over 750 students and community members raised more than $225,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society, far exceeding this year’s goals.

In the lead-up to Relay for Life, students raised money by reaching out to friends, getting sponsors, and hosting events like a spin class and a music night at Clark Hall Pub. They also teamed up with groups like the Kingston Frontenacs and Oil Thigh Designs, expanding their impact and rallying support for the cause.

An executive committee of 28 students dedicated hours throughout the academic year preparing for the event. Their efforts were supported by over 100 general members, who helped prepare for the event and ensure everything ran smoothly.

In addition to The Queen’s Relay for Life, Queen’s University students also organize The Tricolour Classic, an annual basketball game that raised over $250,000 in 2024, and the Cure Cancer Classic, an inter-university hockey tournament that has raised more than $2 million over its 20-year history.
