The team at Thrifty Foods Tuscany Village has a long-standing relationship with Shelbourne Kitchen, a neighbourhood food center that works to reduce barriers to healthy food and address social isolation for families and individuals living on low income.

The kitchen provides a range of programs and services, including its Pantry Program, which distributes fresh food and grocery gift cards to hundreds of families every month. Additional initiatives include Food Skills Programs and Garden Programs, which provide access to fresh seasonal produce.

Thrifty Foods has supported the kitchen through both financial contributions and volunteer efforts. Most recently, the store made a donation in support of the holiday program, and team members have participated in sorting food, distributing hampers, and hosting community events such as the September Barbecue to support the Back-to-School campaign. The store sees these efforts as part of a broader commitment to giving back to the community and supporting neighbours in practical ways.

Upcoming programs and activities at Shelbourne Kitchen include cooking classes, social events, meal kits, and seasonal hospitality offerings such as a holiday card station, hot chocolate station, and special treats. These initiatives provide opportunities for community members to engage, learn, and access healthy food.

Shelbourne Kitchen is located at 101–3787 Cedar Hill Road in Saanich, BC. For more information, call 250-590-0980 or visit shelbournecommunitykitchen.ca. Thrifty Foods Tuscany Village is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. at 1626 McKenzie Avenue in Victoria, BC.
