Community Helps Design Future Hospital in Ontario

Crowd at a recent staff visioning session (Michael Gray Wheeler)

The Collingwood General and Marine Hospital recently invited residents of the community to help design the future hospital for the region.

Residents and staff participated in visioning sessions as team members from Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH) looked at designs from other hospitals to get ideas for their new facility and discussed what the future South Georgian Bay hospital should feel like when people walk in. Members of the community shared their ideas and helped shape the design of South Georgian Bay’s future hospital.

Drop-in sessions were held on October 27 at the Collingwood Public Library and on October 28 at the Wasaga Stars Arena. The sessions allowed community members to view early design ideas, learn from examples of other modern hospitals, and share their thoughts directly with the architects and planners working on CGMH’s new facility. Whether people had just a few minutes or more time to participate, every comment helped shape a hospital that truly reflects the people, spirit, and natural beauty of South Georgian Bay.
