The community in Toronto is coming together in support of Centre 55’s Share A Christmas program, which helps local families in need by offering unwrapped toys, teen gifts, grocery gift cards, and warm meals.
The Share A Christmas program has been spreading smiles and support for more than 40 years. Each year, the program provides food and grocery gift cards, toys, and holiday gifts to hundreds of families, individuals, and seniors. The initiative supports those facing financial hardship, living alone, or struggling to make ends meet.
Members of the community are contributing by donating unwrapped toys and grocery gift cards or by volunteering their time to help with distribution. Volunteers assist with packing, sorting, and delivering donated items. Monetary donations are also welcome at Community Centre 55’s website.
The program is supported by local organizations, businesses, schools, and community groups. Community members can also adopt a family or senior as a sponsor and share personalized gifts to help make this year’s holiday feel meaningful for everyone participating.
The Share A Christmas program supports people and families living north of Lake Ontario, south of Danforth Avenue, east of Coxwell Avenue, and west of Victoria Park Avenue. Those living outside these boundaries can still apply for toys for children under 12 through Centre 55’s Emergency Toy Program. The Share A Christmas initiative is more than meals and presents, as it fosters connection, compassion, and community, helping build a stronger and more caring neighbourhood.
