Canada’s Longest Run For Mental Health

Sachin Latti, a former Canada Border Services officer from Surrey, B.C., is running more than 75 ultramarathons across Canada to raise awareness and funds for mental health.

Latti’s initiative, Sach-in-Motion, aims to raise $1 million for mental health initiatives across Canada and hopes to inspire people while sparking conversations about the importance of mental health.

He is now in the final week of his three-month journey, running 50 km every day across the country. As a retired bodybuilder, jiu-jitsu athlete, ultramarathoner, and 18-year veteran of the Canada Border Services Agency, Latti has witnessed the toll mental health takes on veterans and first responders. He says talking about mental health is not enough; action is needed. Along his run through provinces, people have cheered him on, joined him for parts of the run, and shown support, making his journey a powerful movement for mental health.

Latti has already raised nearly $200,000 toward his $1 million goal, which will support five charities: Jack.org (youth mental health), Their Opportunity (youth physical and mental health), Together We Can (B.C.’s largest drug and alcohol recovery centre), Wounded Warriors Canada (veterans and first responders), and the Canadian Men’s Health Foundation.

Donations can be made online at sachinmotion.ca. Before this cross-country run, Latti had already raised more than $80,000 for other mental health initiatives and organizations.
