Calgary firefighters recently hosted their second annual Ignite the Night YYC fundraiser at the Telus Convention Centre in support of burn victims.
The event, organized by the Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Society (CFBTS), featured cocktails, gourmet food, live entertainment, and a firefighter competition. It was all in support of burn victims and the ongoing work of the society.
Ignite the Night is one of the CFBTS’s two major fundraising events each year, where attendees can enjoy live music, food and drinks, a silent auction, a 50/50 draw, and other prizes. The evening’s main event is a firefighter challenge, in which teams face off in a variety of competitions, from pulling a hose line to rescuing a child. The annual event is about charity, spending time with friends, watching firefighters compete, and simply enjoying oneself. The event brings everyone together, including burn survivors, firefighters, doctors, nurses, and supporters from across Calgary.
Don Adamson has been a strong supporter of the Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Society since surviving a car fire in 2005. Seeing how dedicated they were to balancing full-time jobs, families, and charity work inspired him to get involved and help however he could.
