On Oct. 5, the Kinette and the Kinsmen Club of Stettler brought the community together for its second annual Oktoberfest at the Agriplex. While the attendees were excited to enjoy a fun-filled evening featuring games, tasty food, the event had a deeper purpose to raise money and support local initiatives. All proceeds from this event are to be used for future community projects.
The event kicked off with doors opening at 7:30 p.m., welcoming guests eager to participate in a variety of activities. Tickets were priced at $25 each, which included access to an array of yard games and cornhole boards, providing entertainment for everyone. Food and drink tokens were available for $5 each, allowing guests to indulge in a selection of delicious treats and refreshing beverages throughout the night. The atmosphere was lively, with laughter and camaraderie filling the air as friends and families gathered to celebrate and support their community.
The Kinette Club of Stettler, a group of dedicated women volunteers, was chartered in 1950. With 13 current members, they’ve held various District and National leadership roles, including the notable achievement of having the first female Kin National President, Leona Thorogood.The Kinsmen Club of Stettler, chartered in 1946, has been serving Stettler and its surrounding communities for over sixty years. Their projects have included the development of park areas and ball diamonds, as well as funding for local organizations, such as youth sports and extracurricular school programs.
Hayley Fawcett, President of the Kinette Club and Co-Chair of Oktoberfest, led the organizing efforts for the event. She highlighted the club’s mission, noting that the fundraiser aimed to replenish the fund for upcoming community projects.
The Stettler Kinette Club has done many great works in its community and has used events like the Oktoberfest to fund them, doubling up as a way of giving back to the community while also raising money to lift it. The club recently completed their first-ever wheelchair-accessible playground, providing an accessible place for kids to play and have fun.
Oktoberfest not only provided an enjoyable evening but also reinforced the Kinette Club’s commitment to community development. As the night came to a close, attendees left with full hearts, knowing their contributions would support future projects benefiting Stettler, the community, and its members.
