The members of CUPE 150 and 157 collected an impressive 3,615 pounds of food in a recent drive to support Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold, Ontario. The unions, which represent outdoor and indoor workers for the City of St. Catharines, joined forces to tackle the growing issue of food insecurity in the area. With an increasing demand for food bank services, CUPE 150 and CUPE 157 members went door-to-door to gather non-perishable items, helping Community Care fulfill its mission of providing essential aid to those in need.
“Our members care deeply about helping their community,” said Rory Bourgeois, president of CUPE 150. “The 3,615 pounds of food we collected shows how strong our support is and our shared commitment to helping families in need.”
Jason Trombetta, president of CUPE 157, said, “We are proud of our members for their hard work and generosity. By working together, we can help families in St. Catharines.”
