Edmonton Police Officers Take 50 Teens Shopping

High school students in Edmonton were in for a treat recently as Edmonton police officers took 50 teens back-to-school shopping.

The Ready Set School event was supported by the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign, and it gave students a chance to have fun while getting ready for the new school year. The event, called “Ready, Set, School,” consisted of a scavenger hunt through West Edmonton Mall. It involved high school students and police working together to unlock the next step in their journey, while the students picked up supplies, clothing, and other personal items they would need for school in September.

The event was designed to help young people and police officers build positive relationships and get to know each other outside of their usual interactions. This annual event by the Edmonton Police Foundation is a way to build connections in the community.

The police chief said the event is about more than helping students prepare for school, as it offers future leaders a chance to meet and build positive relationships with police officers. The students were also given laptops donated by event sponsor Enbridge. Organizers thanked Tim Hortons and everyone who bought a Smile Cookie for helping create safer and brighter opportunities for local youth.
